Introduction to Design of Experiments (DOE) for Engineers PD530932ON

Topics: Quality, Safety & Maintenance Computer software and hardware , Test procedures , Systems engineering , Manufacturing processes , Analysis methodologies , Optimization

Design of Experiments (DOE) is a methodology that can be effective for general problem solving, as well as for improving or optimizing product design and manufacturing processes. Specific applications of DOE include, but are not limited to, identifying root causes to quality or production problems, identifying optimized design and process settings, achieving robust designs, and generating predictive math models that describe physical system behavior.

This introductory eLearning course provides an example scenario to give learners the opportunity to discover situations that may warrant a designed experiment. As the scenario is developed, the audience learns the DOE process steps and the definition of relevant terms. The topics covered include the benefits of conducting a DOE, DOE history, and the goals of different types of DOEs. Finally, examples of several success stories are provided to demonstrate the broad range of situations that have benefited from experimentation.

Objectives

By participating in this on-demand course, you'll be able to:

  • Describe the DOE process steps
  • Define terms that are relevant to an introduction to DOE
  • Explain the benefits, history, and types of DOEs
  • Describe how DOE relates to other engineering tools/methods
  • State several examples where the DOE process was used successfully

Materials Provided

  • 90 days of online single-user access (from date of purchase)
  • Nearly 45 minutes of presentation
  • Integrated knowledge checks to reinforce key concepts
  • Online learning assessment (submit to SAE)
  • Glossary of key terms
  • 0.2 CEUs*/Certificate of Achievement (upon completion of all course content and a score of 70% or higher on the learning assessment)

*SAE International is authorized by IACET to offer CEUs for this course.

Is this On Demand Course for You?

This course will benefit engineers involved in product design and/or optimization; process design and/or optimization; quality improvement efforts such as defect elimination, warranty avoidance or similar initiatives; and technicians, analysts and managers who support engineers in these efforts.
